Mindfulness Meditation Based Stress Reduction, EMDR and Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy and Counselling in and around Bath and Bristol

Welcome to my site. I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist in practice since 1988 offering short and long term mindfulness meditation based psychotherapy for adults, clinical supervision, EMDR, and the Jon Kabat-Zinn Eight Week Mindfulness MBSR/MBCT Meditation Course for Bath and Bristol. I am located in the Lansdown area of Bath - a five minute drive from the centre with free parking and I may be contacted by phone or email to arrange an exploratory meeting.

The Bath and Bristol Eight Week Mindfulness Course

The mindfulness based stress reduction program originally designed by Jon Kabat Zinn and now used broadly in America and the UK. Using mindfulness meditation, the eight evenings and one full Saturday, can help us be with physical and emotional stress, chronic pain, anxiety and depression. It is particularly recommended by NICE for recurrent episodes of chronic depression. This may be achieved, not by rejecting our emotional experience, but by learning to be present with it in a consciously spacious and kindly way - that is mindfully.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing)

A brief therapy to help discrete traumas or as part of a therapy of longer duration. EMDR is highly effective in many cases of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and has been recommended as a treatment of choice by NICE, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. Typical applications span between single traffic accidents to complex experiences of sustained abuse.

Individual Psychotherapy

Many of us get to a place in our life where we feel lost, depressed or anxious. Mindfulness based psychotherapy and counselling can help us at these times, enabling us to understand and change deeply held patterns of suffering by talking about them in a safe and confidential setting. A talking therapy, whether it be of short or open ended duration, can be highly effective in getting us back, happily in our life.
